Our safety professionals strive to ensure everyone returns home safe at the end of the day.

Safety is at the core of everything we do and is one of our central guiding principles. We promote and foster a culture where people truly care about one another and
where everyone shares in our goal of zero incidents.

Health, safety and environment focuses on uncompromised safety core values, personal commitmen
and a passionate belief in achieving zero injuries. We look to achieve this through frontline leadership, positive recognition, safe work behaviors, accountability at all
levels and reducing exposure.

Safety Stats

We maintain best in class industry safety with an average of more than 50 million hours worked annually and an
overall total recordable incident rate and overall lost-time frequency rate, among the industry's lowest.

Leading the Way

We all contribute to the success of BNC's safety program: the executives who instil a strong safety culture, the
superintendent who leads the way, the project coordinator who helps trade partners understand our safety practices
the tradesperson who guides young apprentices, and so many more.

Safety Innovation

We have evolved our safety practices by embracing technology both in the office and on the job site. Our
health, safety and environment group has partnered with our business technology group to introduce two new
applications.

Hazard Inspection

The hazard Inspection app blends machine learning with safety standards to conduct inspections. Using photos
taken of hazards and an accompanying description, over time, the app will reduce manual entry, improve data taken of hazards and an accompanying description, over time, the app will

Pre-job Safety Instruction

The Pre-job Safety Instruction (BNC) and BNC Audit app introduces a new way to complete BNC and BNC audits. By
giving users access to documents and automatically capturing data, the PSI app reduces manual entry, saving
time locating or submitting paper documents.

Peter is a mechanical engineer and sustainability specialist. As an in-house expert and member of the Sustainable Retrofits and
Decarbonization team, he helps clients secure the best possible performance from their assets. He is a member of the Canada Green Building Council’s
Zero Carbon Steering Committee, where he brings an integrated perspective to discussions about green-building standards.
